Rosewood Reborn

Motion Graphic Design

This video is an example of audio syncing. The sound came first. It is an embedded MP3 file that plays across slides. The visuals were added to illustrate the program narrative.

The audio is taken from the radio documentary series Between Civil War and Civil Rights. The program, produced by Listening Between the Lines, was originally broadcast on public radio nationwide. It recounts the destruction and “rebirth,” of the town of Rosewood, Florida. James Earl Jones narrates the story told by the actual survivors and participants in their own words and voices.

The project originated as a pleasurable artistic exercise. The idea was to create something (seemingly) cinematic entirely in PowerPoint. As I built their website, I am intimately familiar with the source materials. I shared it with my client. He thought it was quite good and requested that I upload the finished version to his website.
